Some time ago, I wrote an article about the recommended number of daily steps. I’m still not entirely sure what the “ideal” number is, but one thing’s clear — the more you walk, the better.
Back then, my personal record for the most steps in a single day was 33,000.
Since then, I’ve changed my phone, and unfortunately, the step history didn’t carry over. So, for the past month and a half, I’ve been starting fresh with a new count.
I’m writing these lines because this weekend, I hit my first new record: 25,156 steps in a single day — once again, in the mountains.
I’m starting to think I should buy a smartwatch that actually keeps the step history, because knowing myself, in a year or two I’ll probably switch phones again and lose all the data once more.
On another note, autumn mountain hikes are just amazing — truly wow. I even took a few great photos this time.

For now, this is my new personal record since resetting the app. In two weeks, I’ve got another mountain trip planned, and I think I might just beat this one.
But that’s not really the point. Like I said before — what truly matters is staying active.
Because honestly, I still haven’t figured out what the ideal number of daily steps really is…
